Dear parents/carers

Following the sudden announcement of primary school closures from the Government, we have been rapidly making arrangements and honing our online learning provision for you and your children. We will be open from tomorrow (Wed 6th Jan) for those who qualify as critical worker or vulnerable children, who we have spoken to, about the sessions they require. The Government have strongly advised that if you can keep your children at home then please do so.

Here is some information for parents/carers:

  1. Reception and KS1 (years 1 and 2) will form a permanent bubble for the next six weeks, with Miss Wallace and Mrs Colwell covering alternate weeks. The opening hours will be 9am until 3pm. Please adhere to these exact times. Entrance and exit will be via the side door to Class 2 in the carpark. This will be clearly signposted, and manned by staff. Parents are asked to exercise social distancing. All equipment/resources will be regularly cleaned throughout the day.
  2. KS2 (years 3, 4, 5 and 6) will form a permanent bubble for the next six weeks, with Mrs Jones and Mrs Gething covering alternate weeks. The opening hours will be 9am until 3pm. Please adhere to these exact times. Entrance and exit will be via side gate to the right of the building. This will be clearly signposted, and manned by staff. Parents are asked to exercise social distancing. All equipment/resources will be regularly cleaned throughout the day.
  3. Classroom arrangements – Children will be taught in their key stages in specific classrooms. If possible, children will sit at desks facing forward, rather than facing each other. Unnecessary furniture will be removed for more space.
  4. Staff deployment – All staff must abide by our risk assessments and assure the school they are taking the necessary precautions outside of their time within school. A register will be kept of all staff. Visitors will not be allowed on site, with the exception of our PACES coach. TAs will be on site, on separate weeks, under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.
  5. Meals – Children to bring their own packed lunch from home. No hot lunches will be available. School lunches can be provided for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children in school if needed (please contact the school office). All children will eat in their classrooms. Those who are eligible for FSM will be provided with supermarket vouchers (please contact the school office).
  6. Cleaning – The school will be cleaned throughout the day to ensure that surfaces, toilets, door handles, hall spaces etc are kept spotlessly clean. Additional hand sanitisers are available throughout the school.
  7. PPE equipment – We have a supply of this but it will only be used where there is a need with regards to first aid procedures and concerns over social distancing.
  8. School times – The school day will start at 9am and end at 3pm. Parents will not be allowed to enter the school building but will be asked to drop their children off at the supervised entrances. Where possible, only 1 parent/carer to drop off and collect children. Any late arrivals should report to the Reception office to be signed in.
  9. Parking – No one except staff, school buses and disabled badge holders will be permitted to enter the school carpark. Parking is limited at the front of the school so PLEASE leave your cars and walk or cycle if possible.
  10. If parents/carers are verbally abusive, they will not be permitted to send their children to school. This procedure has been put in place for the safety of all our children and families.
  11. After school clubs – There will be no after school clubs for the next six weeks.
  12. Transport – School buses will not be running so please arrange the transportation of you child/children to and from school.
  13. Social Distancing in school – Children will be in their key stage groups. Staff are advised to keep a distance of 2m from other staff and pupils. Toilet breaks, playtimes and lunchtimes will be staggered to enable safe movement around school. Children may have lessons on the field and forest school areas. Lunches will be eaten in classrooms. The school will be thoroughly cleaned throughout the day and at the end of every day.
  14. Cloakroom areas – These areas will be in use, but only at certain times and bubbles will be kept apart when accessing them. Children are not to bring toys or other resources from home. Coats may be placed on the back of children’s chairs.
  15. Uniform – We expect children to come in to school in their normal school uniform except for PE days, which are Monday for R/KS1 and Thursday for KS2. We need to keep the building well ventilated so please can all children wear warm clothes or extra layers.
  16. PE – PE sessions will continue to be undertaken by our regular PACES coach (as per Gov guidance). R/KS1 will have PE all Monday afternoon and KS2 all Thursday afternoon. This will take place outside as long as the weather is dry.
  17. Trips – These will not take place.
  18. Curriculum – We have received online remote teaching on Tues 5th Jan. This will start from Monday 11th Jan. Those at home will be provided with the same school work as those who attend school. Bear with us as it is a lot to take in and we may have some teething problems. We will start with Maths, English, Phonics, Handwriting, Spelling and Reading. We may extend this to include topic work in later weeks. Information on how to access this remote learning will be provided as soon as possible. If your child does not have access to online learning we will provide a pack for collection. Please contact the office.
  19. Track and trace - Schools must understand the track and trace process. Schools have been provided with a small amount of home testing kits for parents/carers and a template letter if required. Due to GDPR if there is an actual or suspected outbreak, no names will be disclosed.
  20. Outbreaks – In the event of a positive case it will result with the closure of the bubble.
  21. End of the day – The school grounds will not be available for children to play at the end of the day. You will be expected to collect your child/children and leave. The resources/toys and play equipment will be out of bounds.

A copy of our risk assessment is available on the school website.

I would also like to inform parents/carers that during the weeks I am in school, my daughter will be with me due to child care issues.

Thank you for your support in helping us to keep children and staff safe.
